door” policy and internal hotlines will serve all their
needs. By doing so organisations run the real risk of not
capturing information relating to corrupt, illegal or undesirable
conduct. A recent survey of employees showed that a third
of them had witnessed unethical or illegal conduct in their
workplace. However of these employees over half did not disclose
what they observe because of fear of retaliation and reprisals
if reported internally. This is why we are so rigid
on our independence and accountability policies.
